The MyTAP is a Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD) manufactured by Airway Management and designed to treat snoring and obstructive sleep apnea without the need for a CPAP machine. It works by stabilising the lower jaw and preventing the tongue and soft throat tissues from collapsing into the airway – the primary cause of snoring and obstructive apnea events.
The device features thermoacrylic trays that soften when heated, allowing them to take on the precise shape of the patient’s teeth for a custom-like fit at home. If the fit needs adjustment over time, the trays can simply be reheated and remoulded. The upper and lower trays are connected via an adjustment dial, which allows the patient to advance the lower jaw (mandible) forward incrementally, opening the airway and reducing obstruction.
